Entering the Year of the Wood Dragon

Happy Chinese Lunar New Year! It's officially the Year of the Wood Dragon. In Chinese culture, dragons represent good fortune, strength, and power. They are also in control of the weather and water.

Every year corresponds with an element, and this year is wood. The wood element brings out the dragon's contemplative side, adding a bit of introspection to the mix. Wood is also associated with morals and ethics, which suits the dragon just fine since it's an animal that thrives on having a sense of duty and purpose.

Early spring!? Punxsutawney Phil seems to think so!

In a rare move, Punxsutawney Phil the groundhog did not see his shadow this year. According to Phil, we are spared from 6 more weeks of winter and will move forward swiftly into spring.

We love to see the flowers bloom, but not yucky seasonal allergies! If you’d like to get ahead of allergies, ask Polina or Tony about custom herbal formulas.

Need an extra boost after a long winter?

For an extra boost of energy, head to your local HMart or Asian market and get fresh Korean ginseng root. Cut into one inch chunks, place in saran wrap and throw in the freezer. On a day when you're feeling particularly tired, defrost one chunk and put it in a pot. Add a cup of water and bring to boil, simmer for five minutes, and drink with a bit of honey. Enjoy!
