Acupuncture

What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a therapeutic practice rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), developed over thousands of years to prevent, diagnose, and treat various health conditions. It involves inserting very thin, sterile needles into specific points on the body to stimulate the flow of qi (pronounced "chee"), considered the body's vital energy.
In TCM, qi flows through pathways called meridians. Disruptions in this flow can lead to imbalances between yin and yang, which may result in illness. Acupuncture aims to restore balance and harmony by unblocking or realigning this energy.
During an acupuncture session, needles are strategically placed on points along these meridians and are often activated by gentle hand manipulation.
Acupuncture helps stimulate the body’s nerves, muscles, and connective tissue, improving circulation and activating its natural self-healing abilities. We offer acupuncture treatments at both our Dedham and Brookline locations.

Acupuncture and Cupping
At AcuBoston, we offer cupping therapy as a supplementary treatment to acupuncture. Specialized suction cups are placed on the body to increase blood circulation to targeted areas, helping reduce muscle tension, inflammation, and pain. These cups create a vacuum effect, drawing skin and muscle upwards, which enhances circulation, encourages lymphatic drainage, and activates the body’s natural healing abilities.
Commonly used by athletes, cupping therapy speeds recovery, improves flexibility, and supports tissue repair. It can relieve stress, reduce physical discomfort, and promote blood flow.
